Deep Sky Instruments - Standard Policies and Warranties

DSI Standard Warranty:

All Deep Sky Instruments Telescopes, Tracking systems, and Servo Controllers are guaranteed to be free of workmanship or manufacturing defects for a period of one (1) year. Optical quality is quantified by interferometry on the mirror set only.

The procedure for requesting repair is the Customer must obtain a Repair Authorization number from DSI in advance. Repairs will be at no charge to the customer within the warranty period if it is determined by Deep Sky Instruments that there is no misuse or accidental damage after inspection of the item. All shipping charges are the responsibility of the Customer. Insurance is highly advised.

DSI at its sole discretion may decide to ship a replacement part to the Customer in order that the Customer may make the necessary repair and return the defective part to DSI.

DSI does not Warranty Software. Software issues are subject to review by DSI of a description of the problem and DSI may at its sole discretion decide to recommend a workaround, fix the problem, or address it in a new release of the software at some future date. DSI makes every effort to ensure its Software will function as is documented. Software that is licensed will be referred to the original author (Software Bisque, SBIG, TCS-LLC, etc.).
Other accessories or components not manufactured by Deep Sky Instruments may be guaranteed by their respective manufacturer and Deep Sky Instruments will pass through any warranty offered (typically one year, but may vary) to our Customers.

Payment:

All checks should be made payable to Deep Sky Instruments. We accept bank wires, cashiers checks, personal checks and money orders. A 50% deposit is required for ordering and the balance is due prior to shipping.

Delivery:

The point of sale for all Deep Sky Instruments products is our dock in Newnan, Georgia. Georgia State sales tax applies only to Georgia residents. You may choose to have your merchandise shipped via a carrier of your choice. Charges for shipping your order include more than just carrier cost. It also includes packing, documentation, order processing, and insurance. Orders are shipped via customer specified carrier (i.e., UPS, FedEx, Parcel Post) or Deep Sky Instruments will ship by the least expensive carrier.

Custom Work:

We are happy to provide custom work on request. Detailed documentation and drawings are required. All custom products designed and built for the customer are not returnable or refundable.

Deep Sky Instruments only builds telescopes and instruments "to order". Each instrument is therefore a custom order and is not subject to a trial period, nor may it be returned for a refund.

International Orders:

Payment method is by Bank Wire only. DSI is not responsible for bank charges associated with transfers or bank wires except for our receiver fee. Orders to foreign countries that are not insurable by Parcel Post cannot be accepted unless the customer authorizes alternate shipping (i.e. International UPS, Fed Ex, Burlington, etc.).
